AI GIF generator from a text description
No picture needed. Describe a subject in a sentence, choose a motion, and get a short loop.

Advanced settings
Output: 480×480
An AI GIF generator draws an animated GIF from a written description, so you need no source picture. Type up to 200 characters naming one subject and its setting, pick a motion, and the model produces a short loop, typically eight frames at 480 × 480. Three tries are free without an account.
How it works
- 1
Describe one subject
Write what should be on screen in plain words, for example "a sleepy orange cat on a blue sofa". You have 200 characters, and a single short sentence usually does best.
- 2
Say how it moves
Choose a motion from the list rather than writing the movement into your sentence. Keeping subject and motion apart gives the model a clearer brief.
- 3
Check the loop
Watch it play and adjust the speed if you like. If the subject is wrong, reword the sentence. If only the movement is wrong, keep the sentence and change the motion.
How an AI GIF generator works from words alone
When you type a description, the model invents the subject from nothing and then draws each frame of a small animation of it. Our prompt tells it to hold the subject, colors and background steady in every frame, keep the camera still, and avoid adding text, borders or new objects. Those rules are what make a result look like one calm loop instead of eight unrelated drawings.
This AI GIF generator page is for people who don't have a picture yet. Maybe you want a mascot idea, a reaction for a group chat, or a filler animation for a slide. If you already have a photo of your dog, the text route is the wrong start: the model will draw a dog, not your dog.
| Text description | Your own picture | |
|---|---|---|
| You provide | Up to 200 characters | A JPG, PNG or WebP |
| The subject is | Invented by the model | Taken from your upload |
| Best for | Ideas, characters, moods | Real pets, people, logos |
| Main risk | It isn't what you imagined | The likeness drifts a little |
| Credit cost | Same | Same |
A prompt recipe for an AI GIF generator
Most weak results come from asking for a story. Eight frames can't hold a story. They can hold one subject doing one small thing. A useful description names four things, in this order: the subject, one or two visual details, the setting, and the style.
- Subject: one thing, named plainly. "A small robot" beats "some robots and a dog".
- Details: one or two traits you can see, such as color or clothing.
- Setting: a simple place, or a flat color if you want a clean look.
- Style: a single word or two, such as watercolor, pixel art or clay.
Descriptions you can copy and edit
A small round robot with a yellow scarf, on a pale blue background, clay style
A sleepy orange cat curled on a green cushion, soft watercolor
A paper boat on calm dark water at night, simple flat illustration
A cup of coffee with rising steam on a wooden table, cozy pixel art
A cheerful cactus wearing sunglasses, on plain white, thick cartoon outlinesNotice that none of these says "then" or "after that". If your sentence needs those words, it is describing more than this AI GIF generator can draw in one loop.
What fits in eight frames
By default the AI GIF generator gives you 8 frames shown for 150 ms each, which is 1.2 seconds before the loop restarts. You can ask for anything from 2 to 16 frames in the advanced panel, but more frames don't turn a loop into a film. Think of the length of a blink or a breath, not of a walk across a room.
Good requests are movements that can return to where they began: steam rising, a tail flicking, a light pulsing, a head tilting and coming back. A movement that ends somewhere new, such as a ball flying out of the picture, leaves a jump at the join.
Why a generated GIF comes out wrong
Here are the faults you are most likely to meet with an AI GIF generator, and the change that usually fixes each one.
| What you see | Likely cause | Try this |
|---|---|---|
| Subject morphs between frames | Too many details to hold steady | Cut the description to one subject and one trait |
| Almost no movement | The motion is too small for the subject | Pick a stronger motion, or one suited to the subject |
| A jump when the loop restarts | The movement doesn't return to its start | Choose a motion that comes back to rest |
| Garbled words in the picture | You asked for text in the image | Remove the wording and add a caption elsewhere |
| Two subjects merge together | The sentence named two main things | Generate one subject per GIF |
| Generation refused | The request hit a content rule | Reword it. Your credit is returned |
How to judge the best AI GIF generator for your job
There isn't one right answer, and we won't claim to be it. Tools in this space are built for different things. A fair way to compare any AI GIF generator is to ask the same five questions of each one, ours included.
- Does the file arrive as a real GIF, or as a video you must convert?
- How long and how large is the result? We make short loops only, so if you need ten seconds, look elsewhere.
- Can you see the watermark and resolution limits on the free plan before you sign up?
- Does a failed run cost you anything? Here it doesn't, because failed or blocked generations refund automatically.
- Does the tool say where your text goes? Your description is sent to OpenAI to create the frames, and it is checked by moderation first.
If you want a ready-made reaction from a well-known film or show, a GIF search engine will beat any generator, and it is free. Generation is for things that don't exist yet. Likenesses of real people aren't something we offer.
Using this AI GIF generator for free, and what credits buy
You can make 3 GIFs with no account, then 5 more after signing up, so a free AI GIF generator is enough to find out whether this suits you. Free files carry a corner watermark and render at standard quality, the lower of two tiers. Paid generations remove the watermark. Standard quality costs 1 credit and high quality costs 2.
Credit packs are $6.99 for 25, $19.99 for 80 and $44.99 for 200, and pack credits don't expire. If you make GIFs every week, Pro is $14.99 a month for 60 credits or $119.88 a year for 600, and those credits reset each period. Text prompts and uploads cost the same, so choose the route that suits your idea.
Questions
Do I need to upload anything to use the AI GIF generator?
No. A sentence is enough. If you do have a picture you want to keep recognizable, use the upload tool on our home page instead.
How long can my description be?
Up to 200 characters. Shorter tends to work better, because each extra detail is another thing the model has to keep steady across every frame.
Can the AI GIF generator put words on the GIF?
Not reliably, so our prompt asks for no text in the frames. Lettering tends to warp from frame to frame. Add your caption separately.
Can I generate a GIF of a celebrity or a real person?
No. Celebrity likenesses and face swaps of real people aren't offered, and requests like these can be blocked by moderation.
Will the same sentence give me the same GIF twice?
No. An AI GIF generator draws new frames on each run, so expect variation. If you find one you like, download it, because a rerun won't repeat it.
Who owns the GIF I generate?
You can use your results within our terms, as long as your description doesn't copy someone else's characters or brands. Read the terms page for the details before any commercial use.
